Bambusa oldhamii
A large, semi tropical clumping timber bamboo, Bambusa oldhamii can reach heights of 55 feet with culms about 5 inches in diameter when mature . The culms are straight and in the Southeast US are relatively free of lower branching whereas in the Southwest US it branches almost completely to the ground. Due to it’s grand appearance Bambusa oldhammi is a very popular and common sight in the Florida theme parks and will make a impressice hedge or centerpiece in any landscape. Culms are a deep green color and Bambusa oldhammi is cold tolerant between 15 to 20 degrees F. Bambusa oldahmmi presents a fairly open growth pattern and shoots are excellent eating.
