Bambusa pervariabilis viridistriata

Bambusa pervariabilis ‘Viridistriata’- Sunburst Bamboo

A thick walled, yellow bamboo with green stripes, Bambusa pervariabilis ‘Viridistriata’ aka Sunburst Bamboo makes an excellent specimen for the landscape.  Expected growth height is about 40 feet with a culm diameter of about 2.5 inches.  Sunburst bamboo branches all the way to the ground, resulting in a thick hedge like form, but can be trimmed up to reveal the beauty of the culms.  This is considered a non-invasive bamboo due to it’s clumping habit, however, depending on where planted it will need some maintaining to keep it within the desired footprint.  Bambusa pervariabilis viridistriata is also cold hardy to about 20F.
